Q: What does a Naprapath Do?

Naprapathy is a field of physical medicine that emphasizes the health of the body's connective tissue.

Q: What is Connective Tissue?

Connective tissue is found throughout the human body. A few structural examples include: ligaments, tendons, fascia, cartilage, discs, and muscle. Your body is a complex net work of connective tissue which can become imbalanced: too tight in some areas (contracted) or too loose in other areas (lax). This imbalance results in pain. You may be totally unaware that you have a comprehensive musculoskeletal imbalance until a build up of signs and symptoms reaches an unbearable level of pain and loss of function.

Q: Who can benefit from Naprapathic Treatment?

Anyone who has had:

  • A trauma
  • Suffers from acute or chronic pain
  • Work related injuries
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Falls
  • Sports injuries
  • Faulty posture
  • Poor sleeping habits
  • People who are in generally good health but are limited by pain or discomfort are often pleased by the relief they experience and the range of motion they recover.

Q: Do you refer to Physicians or other specialists?

A doctor of Naprapathy does not hesitate to refer patients to other specialists for proper diagnostic testing and further evaluation as needed.

Q: Do you prescribe drugs for pain or other health issues?

A Naprapath does not rely on pharmaceuticals, but does recommend natural medications and supplements that promote health, strengthen the immune system, relieve arthritis pain, lower cholesterol, and promote healthy weight loss. In addition, the doctor of Naprapathy works with each patient to develop a series of therapeutic exercises and stretches tailored specifically to his or her condition. Mechanical aids such as orthotics may be prescribed to help the body retain proper alignment until the muscles can be strengthened to do their job properly.

Q: Does my Insurance cover Naprapathy?

Yes, Most PPO type insurance plans do cover Naprapathy. If you would like we can verify your benefits for you prior to your visit. We also do claims submition for you as a courtesy. The most common insurance plans that cover Naprapathy are Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Cigna, United Healthcare and others.

Q: How long do I have to wait for an appointment?

In most cases we can schedule you the same day.

Q: Will I be treated on my first visit?

Yes. On your first visit you can expect to have a comprehensive exam, and a report of findings. If you have had X-Rays, a CT scan or MRI, the doctor would like to have a copy of the report. The doctor will then explain what course of treatment he recommends for you, he will also answer your questions. Then you can expect to be treated. You will most likely feel relief on your first visit.
